Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
Alisse and I have bought a house in Solvang...going to need a ton of fixing up but it will be a blast and a great learning experience. It backs up to a nature preserve with oak trees and a winter creek...eventually our plans call for a new detached 2-car garage and music studio to be built looking out over that nature area. Should be a great place to teach, and jam of course! Here's to an exciting 2009!!!!

New Live Recording posted on jshmusic.com

Check out Stir Father performing live on 8/31/08 at Koehler Winery in Los Olivos, CA.
Recorded by good friend Kent Verderico, and featuring the guitar and vocal stylings of Kevin Colis one last time before his move to Austin, TX. It was a great show on a warm, SoCal night.
GREAT drum and cymbal sounds from Kent...

Happy Spring (at least it feels like spring here in Southern CA) -

Jon has resumed teaching drum lessons down here in the SY valley. Lessons can be either at his home studio or at your house in the valley!

JSH Music Productions is booking up well for the summer months. Both bands, the Free Radicals and Stir Father (part II) are rehearsing, adding tunes to their sets and sounding great!

Long time since the last update...
Well, you can't blame me - a lot has gone on!!!

I got married on August 25th here in Santa Ynez, CA. Alisse and I had a wonderful time tying the knot, and then honeymooning in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Highly reccomended. Its only a 2 hour flight from LAX!!

I started my own Music Production company here in town, to perform at weddings, wineries and corporate events. Things are going well so far with that. Lots of bookings already for 2008. Its gonna be great....working for MYSELF and playing music all the time.

I am pleased to announce that I have a studio here in SY to teach drum lessons at as well. I hope to begin with new students quite soon.

New pictures will be posted shortly....and live public performances will be announced as well as soon as they are confirmed!!!!

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to everyone!!!

Finally, the Premier 16" floor tom arrives!

Nice one. Jon has been looking for roughly 6-7 years for the matching floor tom for his red birch kit. Found. Craigslist kicks ass!
This thing booms...with the addition of this drum comes the opportunity to re-head the entire red kit (7 drums: not cheap). Jon is going with a new combination of Aquarian Classic Clear bottom heads and the awesome Black Remo Ebony Ambassador heads on top.
Pictures to come and we'll just have to see about fitting it in the car with the rest of the kit on the way to gigs...
peace,

Happy New Year to everyone -

Major update here:
The band Jon has been working on for over a year and a half is no longer. Only 3 months after finally coming up with a name, West of West, the band broke up. The singer felt like the music wasn't exactly what she wanted to be doing, freaked out, and basically killed the project by abruptly backing out. This after a year and a half of songwriting, rehearsing, recording, and 3 successful gigs all in October of 2006...
The rest of the band felt like too much of the style and vibe of the music rested upon the style and vibe of the vocalist, and therefore another singer could not be substituted.
Major bummer, but this is how things go. Tracks recorded by West of West will be posted shortly; at least they'll be used for something!!

Jon has now re-newed his focus on Jazz (see the gear page for pics of the new maple jazz kit) and teaching drum lessons all around the East Bay Area. Hopefully a new swingin' jazz quartet or quintet will be coming soon...
Happy new year to everyone and check back soon for more updates!
